The long way
is usually better.

I photograph the places that make me stop: weather rolling over open ground, wildlife at the edge of the frame, and the small human details of life outdoors.

Nine photographs from one journey: from sheltered water and carved stone to the exposed western edge.

The lake at Stourhead reflecting autumn trees and a clear blue sky

the water.

A slow circuit of the lake through clipped lawns, wooded paths, classical temples and flashes of turning colour.
